Bushcare in Manly
The Manly Council Bushcare Programme encourages the community to get involved and help protect and restore our precious urban bushland.
Bushcare groups work each week in a variety of bushland areas. There's a group to suit everyone, no experience is necessary.
Bushcare activities include
- encouraging natural bushland regeneration by removing weeds
- native plant and weed species identification
- recreating bushland by planting native species
- erosion control and mulching
- recreating habitat.
The benefits of being a bushcare volunteer
- great way to develop an understanding of the local environment
- free training on plants and animals
- learn how to identify weeds and the latest weed removal techniques (great to use at home in the garden)
- meet and socialise with like minded people interested in conservation
- great sense of achievement
Council supports Bushcare
