Vegetation Communities
There are eleven vegetation communities within Manly (Source: Flora and Fauna of Manly Council’s Bushland Reserves, 2004).
These are vegetation communities that each have a unique mix of plants and provide potential habitat to a range of animals. Three of these have been listed as Endangered Ecological Communities under the Threatened Species Conservation Act.
Vegetation communities found in Manly are:-
- Large Open-forest of Casuarina glauca and Baumea juncea
- Coastal Bankia –Eucalyptus Woodland
- Open forest/Woodland: Eucalyptus piperita – Angophora costata-Corymbia gummifera
- Closed Forest: Ceratopetalum apetalum – Tristaniopsis laurina
- Littoral Rainforest
- Creekline Rainforest
- Woodland/Low woodland: Corymbia gummifera – Eucalyptus haemastoma
- Open-scrub: Banksia ericifolia – Hakea teretifolia
- Open-heath/closed scrub: Allocasuarina distyla – Banksia ericifolia
- Sydney Ironstone Bloowdood-Silvertop Ash Forest (Duffy’s Forest)
