Manly Lagoon Catchment Coordinating Committee 2012-2016
The primary function of the Manly Lagoon Catchment Coordinating Committee (MLCCC) is as an advisory body to both Warringah and Manly Councils on matters concerning the management of Manly Lagoon and its Catchment.
The key issues facing the catchment relate to:
- Water cycle management, in particular stormwater discharge quality, volumes and velocities, sewerage overflows, water use and reuse, and environmental flows;
- Land use management, in particular impacts of new development contaminated land and recreational areas and use; and
- Ecosystem management, in particular impacts on riparian corridors, aquatic ecosystems and terrestrial ecosystems.
Both Councils are responsible for:
Implementing the Manly Lagoon Estuary Management Plan 1998 and Manly Lagoon Floodplain Management Plan 1997 (to be referred as the "Plans"), in accordance with the NSW State Government Policy;
Both Councils are also have the objective of:
- Implementing the key recommendations of the Manly Lagoon and Catchment Integrated Catchment Management Strategy and Evaluation 2004 (to be referred to as the "Strategy").
- Implementing additional lagoon and catchment management plans, and set objectives for the future
